Traveller's Forest was a mystical place known as a magic hotspot and a hub of gateways. Unwitting travellers seeking a destination often exited the forest to find themselves exactly where they wished to be after a walk far too short, looking behind them to find a foreign wood that's certainly not a part of Traveller's Forest. But the Forest ceased itself functions once the day is gone and away, unfurling into true wilderness.
Night chased away daylight as the sun receded behind the jagged horizon line formed by the low mountains. Nature readied itself for the evening, slowing its breath to a chilling silence disrupted only by the movements of teeming nightlife.

True to his nature, Ashling stayed in the shade. His skin blended well into the sooty green moon-shadows of the forest, and he was glad of that. His small dark tongue darted past his lips and in again, to catch the slowing flow of sap-coloured blood that drizzled from the many small, consecutive wounds decorating his lips.
The magic in the air bubbled against his lips. When he had reached the byway, they had been freshly opened, and bleeding profusely. Now, after only a few minutes they were closing up, leaving deep scars behind. Holes.
He started with his hands.
The thick black cord stood out even in the night as something that didn't belong. It wound in and out of his flesh, stitching his fingers together into a mono-digit hand. He bit it. Gnawing on it until the cord frayed and broke. Ashling winced as he tugged it from his flesh. The cord protested it's removal by chafing and breaking pieces of his flesh off to go with it as he freed the fingers on his left hand.
The right was trickier. He waited a minute, for the gush of his left hand to slow to a tender trickle before he attempted the chew through his right hand's cord. More clumsily, his injured left hand pulled the second length of string out. It too gushed, and then slowed to a trickle.
Task complete for the moment, he slumped against the nearest tree. A quiet sound came from the back of his throat. it whined softly into the night for what seemed like a long time.

Nealai froze in midstep at the foreign noise, able to pick it out from the noctural sounds of the forest from years of experience. In spite of his burning lungs, he forced his ragged breathing to a halt.
Maneuvering awkwardly over a large overgrown tree root with bound hands, he pressed his back against the cool bark to lower his temperature. There was no telling who or what could detect his presence by heat waves alone.
A breeze laced with the lingering breath of Winter slipped by, whistling through the tight knitted trees and sending a shiver down the Moon Elf's spine. Moving to rub his arms for warmth, he winced succeeding only in chafing his abused wrists on the coarse twine.
Cold...
He wished he hadn't abandoned his thick coat earlier on in light of 'swifter' travel.
He snorted.
More like escape.
Sighing deeply, he grew limp with fatigue against the wood. Physical and mental exhaustion was catching up to him as he fought to stay awake.
Unbeknowst to him, there was another who was sharing the sanctum of same tree that night.

Drei was awakened from his slumber by strange noises in the night. His red and yellow eyes glowed slightly amongst the darkness of the branches high in the tree. He gave a silent yawn and stared down at the two 'guests' he had, lying against either side of the tree."hmmmmm....interesting features we have here tonight...that we do.." He assumed a humanesque form so not as to attract too much attention to him. A tight mono black leather suit, with many many belts all along the chest, legs, and upper arms. His hands and feet, however, were long and sharp, almost clawlike. His longbow strapped to his back, and dagger at his side, He slowly, and silently, began to climp down the side of the tree, face first, in between both of them.

A Shade's eyes are well adapted to darkness, so it was Ashling who yelped in surprise at the creature climbing down the tree. He jumped halfway up, only to fall back to the forest floor, grinding dirt and leaf litter into his healing hands. The Shade shot up from his place on the ground after crab walking a few feet from his object of terror.
He had no weapons so he simply stood there, eyes wide with fright, staring down the many eyed creature advancing down the tree.

The yelp piercing the silence jolted Nealai into consciousness. He stood up abruptly forgetting where he was and stumbled, toppling into a bush.
Hopelessly tangled in foliage and weak limbs, he could only watch in muted apprehension as some sort of dark creature barely humanoid in appearance confronted the dusky skinned male at the base of the tree.

(A lil GModing. If you have a problem with it let me know and I'll change it)
Drei looked back and forth at his two scrabbling, fearfull guests. His arms shot out towards each of them with speed, and a ropelike substance shot out from his arms catching each of them in the legs. He proceded to silently run back up the side of the tree, dragging his captives along the ground and into the air, into the upper branches, and tied the rope-web off on strong limbs of the tree, leaving the shade and elf dangling from their webbing in the mid-air.
He then casually walked down the side of the tree almost perpendicular to the trunk, arms crossed, to the level of his dangling 'guests', and looked up at them, with an look of suspicion and interest.

The blood rushing to his head made it difficult to think and the sticky web sealed his movement. Almost all movement but the keyword here was almost.
Wiggling a little, Nealai tested out the strength of the webbing. He held fast.
Trying not to attract the attention of their observer below, he looked to the other captive with him. He'd need help if he was going to break free.

Ashling felt himself start to fade out. Quickly world quieted, and the web loosed its hold on the now ghostly Shade. He looked up at the web's other captive and shook his head, wondering if the Elf could escape on his own. Probably not.
Willing his fingers to fade from the outside reality and appear into the Elf's, he started to untangle the web. it tried to stick to his still bleeding hands, but he was still too far from the real world for them to hold. Ashling tried to work quickly, a Spider wouldn't just let his prey go.

The dissapearence of the shade caught Drei's attention relatively quickly. He reached behind him for his longbow and an arrow from his quiver. He poked his arm with the tip of the black arrowhead, and let his blood drip onto it.
"A blinker eh?", he muttered to himself with a smrik,"I always thought they were ghosts of legend"
He turned, arrow cocked and pointed it at the remaining elf. He closed all his eyes, except for his single red one, and veins on his head seemed to glow red slightly. Looking from behind his vision, it seemed like the world seemed to slow down and zoom in on his target, and to his surprise, an extreemly faint, but noticable aura was there.
"Allright Blinker!", he called out into the night, his voice relatively high human pitched but with a (british) accent,"I know your kind is dangerous, and tough to kill, so i'll make a proposal." Drei raised his bow, pointing the arrowhead towards the easiest vital spot to hit, the heart.
"You show yourself, peacefully, and calmly, and I won't kill this elf here. He's probably not your business, as I've gathered from watching you two as of now, but I know that nobody wants any blood shed tonight."

Ashling faltered, his stutter of breath giving away his position. The last threads holding the Elf were almost detached.
"I-I-I can't!" he yelled."I can't!"
Still working frantically on the last few strings of Web he regrouped his thoughts.
"I-I can't control it." he said more calmly."And put down your bow! What right do you have to go around webbing people up like this that then merits you pointing that bow at me! I did nothing to you!"
Anger crept into his voice with his last few words, and with it he could sense himself coming back into the real world. He shivered momentarily. The bow was poisoned, he could see, and pointing right at he and the Elf.

Drei's bow remained aimed at the elf, unfaulteringly accurate, for a moment or so. The he gave a sigh. The shade was right, and as much as he did not want to admit it, they had done nothing to warrent his hostility. He reminded himself that he had to learn to not take out his anger and frustration of the past on innocents. He lowered his bow, licked the blood of the arrowtip, and replaced them in his quiver, and attached the long bow on his back.
"You're bloody lucky i've got some common sense /and/ compassion Blinker" he muttered, loud enough to be heard. He then dashed up the tree, and lowered the webbing holding the elf to the ground, slowly. He slowly descended back from the branches, down the trunk, sighing to himself.

Nealai was dimly surprised. Dimly because he was half-asleep, surprised because he was half-asleep especially considering the circumstances.
The Elf was also dimly aware of movement that seemed to be of his own doing.
But, what was he doing?
He didn't ponder over it.
Voices conversed around him, distorted with the haze of low consciousness.
"...elf...gather...-night."
"....-an't...webbing...point-...."
He wished they'd stop talking as it was starting to irritate him. He felt himself being lowered, touching down on the chilly earth that seem to jolt him awake.
Squinting, Nealai blinked several times to make sure he was seeing what he saw.
Addressing the strange humanoid creature, with too many eyes to be considered as such, Nealai rasped:
"What are you?"

"Sh-Shade." replied Ashling more steadily."and he's... a demon? He's not pointing his bow at us anymore at least...."
The Shade fought both the stinging in his hands and the slowly growing ember of anger in his chest. Who was the demon to come and try to kill him? He hadn't done anything to the demon. For feck's sake...
And Blinker?Blinker? Stupid racist..idiot.
He quenched the anger and looked back at the Elf. Thinking about it for another second he looked at the Spider.
"So... what are your names?"

Nealai blinked at these strange foreign creatures. He shouldn't be so surprised considering his knowledge of the world has been expanding since the day he joined the hunting circle.
But these...people, they gave him a bad feeling. Nico always told him to trust in gut feelings although he didn't think running away would help the current situation.
He decided it would be smarter to answer now as his mute comtemplation had stretched out an uncomfortable silence.
Speak with closed words, Nealai. Assess then proceed. You can do that much, can't you?
He sure hoped he could.
"I am the one called Nealai."
